I'm back from my jollies!

I had a fantastic time. First we travelled to Belgium and spent a couple of days in Ghent.

A lovely river town in Belgium. The architecture is amazing. Very Gothic and the buildings all have specially shaped roofs. We visited the WW1 battlefields experience while here. It was amazing. I think everyone should go on the tour to see the way they had to live during WW1 and to see how they tragically died.

Then it was onto the Netherlands where we stayed with our friends Sabine and Henry. They live in a lovely place.

And fed us chocolate cakes that were gorgeous!

From here we travelled to Frankfurt for some cider and cheese

and then onto Strasbourg to cruise up and down the Rhine

We spent the last afternoon in Heidelberg visiting Carol and Roland

We spent the night in Strasbourg before travelling home

And I didn't get much stitching done at all in the whole 12 days, even though I took a sampler and two bookmarks with me!

The Doctor returns!

I'm still in mourning for Martha. I thought she and the Doc went very well together and I shall miss her being in the whole of series 4.

Wednesday - In the garden.....

What another gorgeous day! We spent all afternoon in the garden with Mother and niece. I managed to get some stitching done on a WTP that I'm going to make into a cushion for a friend and it's nearly finished! It's not taken too long to do. Will post a pic when it's done.

Here are some of the visitors to our garden

And you can just see the apples on the tree so when they fall we'll be making pies and crumbles and jam galore :)

Been in the garden aaaaaalllllll day!

Glitter Graphics, Myspace Glitters, Myspace Graphics from Dollielove.com

I kid you not! I've had breakfast out there, lunch out there and heading out there for tea! It's not often that we see so much sun in this neck of the woods!
We've been busy today sorting out for our BBQ on Saturday. We have a big garden and hubs has the run of most of it. I just do the prettifying and dead heading :D We were sat minding our own business at lunch when a dragonfly decided to take a tour! He stayed around for quite a while buzzing here and there.
Hubs has cut the grass. Isn't it amazing how different a garden can look with a grass cut?!
Here are some blooms from the garden

I finished my ATC. I'm quite pleased with it but I do think I need to be more arty with the next one. The theme is Oriental and I've used a backing paper with kimono and fans. I have no idea what the chinese peel offs mean, but I hope it's polite ;)

I'm baaaaaack!!

Hello! I don't know who reads my blog but I'm back to say hello. I know it's been too long but now the Summer holidays are here I can spend longer (well over the next couple of weeks!) adding about my life. I've been very busy over the past few weeks. School broke up on July 13th and I went away straight away with my Mum. We had a lovely few days on the South coast with blazing sunshine, only getting caught in the rain on the way back.

I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday night and I loved it! A bit slow going I thought to start off with but once it got going I couldn't put it down! Can it really be the end? Leave a message if you've read it and what you thought of it :) I'm back to 'From the corner of his eye' by Koontz. A good book that seems nothing like the blurb on the back to me LOL I'm over half way through and the main character is only 2 and a half and hasn't gone blind yet!! Weird but very good!

Got a few things to do today. Tidy my craft room to start off with and then make my first ATC (Artist Trading Card). I'm looking forward to having a go at something a bit different. The theme is Oriental for this one. Then I've got to start making the invites for my parents party. They are having a joint 65th and 70th in September. Everyone knows about it, but you have to have invites don't you?

I've been off Time Travelling....

..well, no not really. Work is taking more of my time than I want at the moment. Only 3 weeks until I get a holiday! It's been reports, tests, trips, parent's evenings. Not got much stitching done on Gossamer Princess and if I'm honest I've put her away for a bit and started a Forever Friends bear, except I think I've miscounted and am a row out *grrr* so I need to double check that, which I'm going to do in a mo.

Dr Who has been absolutely fantastic these past few weeks. Saturday's ep was the best yet. I wish I was younger so I could go crazy for the merchandise without feeling silly. But I've bought a TARDIS lunch box

and a Cyberman drinks bottle!

I feel like a big kid!! I could sit and watch DR Who forever at the moment and have embarrassingly watched Sound of the Drums about 6 times including Saturday night *blush* There's something about Captain Jack and the Dr in the same ep!!!

We've been working in the garden today

We're doing 'Open Gardens' on 30 June and I want the garden all sorted in time for it. So we've been potting and planting all morning :)

WE SAW MEAT LOAF IN CONCERT

He was bloody brilliant! We were on the floor not far back from the stage. A fab night! He sang recent and older stuff. His support (Marion Raven) was great too. Have a look here for a review of the show we saw

www.meatloaf.net/reviews/?branch_id=3&subject_id=52

Got a lil bit done on Gossamer Princess

I've mainly been card making though :( I can't do two things at once LOL

Been getting the cooking bug again!

I made a lovely veg soup last weekend. It was liked so much that people had 2 bowlfuls! Just the usual potato, carrot, celery, onion, peas, brocolli, sweetcorn and tinned toms. It was delish though.

And some fresh strawberry muffins! I need to make these again, they are lovely. Maybe make some banana muffins instead?

Been a busy, busy week!

Have been card making mainly. These are teabag folding, decoupage and stickers and foil.

My HAED hasn't had much done to her...

... this week *sigh* I've been so busy with work. I managed a couple of hours yesterday but nothing today :( I hope I've not lost my stitchy bug in favour of card making, that wouldn't be like me! I've added the Krienik thread for her wings and a bit of purple on the left hand side.

Dr Who was absolutely

fantastic on Saturday!! The first ep for a couple of weeks and I've missed it. I'm hoping to get the series DVDs at some point. There's no fan vids on YouTube at the mo for '42' but here's the trailer

I've had a mammoth....

card making sesh today :) I've been teabag folding again. I did it last about 2 years ago and for some reason have felt the urge to get back to it LOL I've really enjoyed it. I've also been embossing, but need to get more powders as I only have 3 :(

My gorgeous fabby and threads

My friend gave me a subscription to a fabby club for Christmas and every 2 months I get some fabby and threads. These arrived on Thursday :)

A gorgeous card, made especially for me

A flower fairies card made for my God-Mother.

My HAED WIP

This is after a week of working on her. I am loving it, but finding it a challenge with it being so small. I've got a final colour coming so I can begin her wings and then she'll really start looking like a Gossamer Princess :)

You Are 84% Open Minded

You are so open minded that your brain may have fallen out!
Well, not really. But you may be confused on where you stand.
You don't have a judgemental bone in your body, and you're very accepting.
You enjoy the best of every life philosophy, even if you sometimes contradict yourself.

Finally, I get to start my first ever HAED

For those of you not in the know, HAED = Heaven and Earth Designs and they create cross stitch charts out of the most beautiful art work! Check out the link in my links section. I've chosen to stitch a storykeep (aka a bookmark) and she's called Gossamer Princess. She's gorgeous!

These are all the threads I need for a chart that measures 75W by 225H!! I'm stitching 2 over 1 and wonder if I've bitten off more than I can chew! LOL

And this is how much I've done so far!

Martha gets her key to the TARDIS!!

This was Saturdays ep where Martha finally gets what she wants!

Pic of WIP

First post!

I've got a bit of a thing for Dr Who fan vids at the moment LOL

I'm going to finish my WIP Wedding Sampler today. Will put a pic up as soon as Blogger lets me!
